Bose QuietComfort 15 Headphones Review

For centuries, (rich) people have depended upon Bose for the brilliant sound quality that they are known to provide. And here is another example, which proves nearly the same but to maybe a costlier extent.

Bose in its QuietComfort series has now come with the latest pair, QC15. They offer much more than any usual pair would. Or so they would have us believe. This pair of headphones is to offer two major positives over the others. We look at them one by one in the following paragraphs.

Firstly, considering the price tag attached, the QC15 should at the least provide amazing sound quality. However, somehow it simply fails to do so. The sound quality is average. One can call it good but not exemplary. It is not the kind anyone would want paying around $300 for a set of headphones. The bass line is predominantly just okay. Low and deeper bass does not sound any better than it would on any other headphone. However, the treble that the set reaches is in fact magnificent. At least on this front the set does not sound as brilliant as it possibly should. Literally speaking.

The second and possibly the most important point of debate is the worth of the noise reduction active-able switch. QC15 provides cushiony ear cups with microphones both on the outside and on the inside, in such a way that there is a noticeable drop in the ambience sound that is present around. This however, eats up the battery life. In addition, as is with any Bose headphone, it stops functioning the second the battery runs out. However, getting back to the noise reduction quality, a novice would say it is extra-ordinary, but experts and researchers seem to disagree over that too. When an in-flight announcement was being made, in a plane, a research team noted that the announcement could be clearly heard over the music. However, in everyday circumstances the noise reduction facilities available with these headphones seem to surpass most of the others.

Another aspect that must be duly noted, before one ventures out to buy this pair, is the already mentioned irritable quality of Bose headphones, when they run out of battery. If one does not mind carrying an extra pair of AAA battery, one could not possibly put up with this inexcusable ‘feature’.

Then there is that positive side, the headphones with its 35 hours of backup, provides the best ear cups possible. The size of the same is manageable as they can fit any ‘size of the head’ because of a certain extendable feature. Alongside this, one also must take note of the fact that Bose does provide a covering for the headphones. In fact, the headphones are designed such that the ear cups slide inwards by an angle of 90 degrees when being put in the case.

Now focusing on the looks of this particular set, there is that seamless classy look, which wears out after a certain amount of time.

Therefore, if you really want to spend three or possibly four times of what you would spend for comfort and for a plausible noise reduction, these headphones are the thing. However, if you would rather be economical, try another pair; until the sounds your neighbor makes while sleeping are a little too much for you to bear.
