With a more manageable set than its predecessor, Bose QC2 is the headphone you wish for if you opt for external noise reduction. In addition, this function, thankfully, is not available in a circuit accessible externally on the wire/ cable, but is instead inbuilt with the headphone’s processor.
A little smaller and thus a little more compact that its predecessor, the headphones ear cups are made in the flip-fold way i.e. they get folded towards the inside when not in use which makes it occupy even lesser space. It also comes with a stylish case, which obviously is able to hold the headphone and make it look sleeker. Considering the amount that one would pay for this, the bag is not that bad an option, after all.
The noise reduction does really work well. In fact, this particular series of Bose, has set the standard of noise reducing headphones and has set it pretty high. The headphones’ earpieces with its soft cushiony like cups provide ample comfort and in fact successfully block out a major part of the background noise that is around. Once, when the music is on and the noise reduction is switched on (yes you have to switch it on yourself), the background noise is hardly heard. However, an astounding feature is that you have to switch on the noise reduction if you want to hear any music on these headphones. They want to make you money worth it, is the guess.
A drawback however is that the second the battery dies down, the music follows suit, and you are left music-less. But then again, the battery life is not that bad (around 35 hours) and carrying another pair of AAA battery is not that big a deal when it comes to music, at least for all those who loves music and of course, the ones who love their headphones.
The quality remains good. The bass is full and rich and provides the money’s worth. Of all the on- and around-ear headphones in the market Bose’s QuietComfort series comes the closest to creating a home theatre like effect right in your ear. The only problem that some listeners might face is the pressure on the eardrums. Being an on-ear headphone the pair of headphones could cause a slight irritation if used for a long duration, as it becomes a little forceful.
The headphone is its money worth; it offers you sound; it offers you mildly good looks; and it offers you comfort. The only question you have to answer is that would you buy an expensive headphone. If YES, then why not a slightly pricier one– a QuietComfort3?
