EdgeStar PAC8000S 8000 BTU portable air conditioner is an eco-friendly portable air conditioner with three speed fan function, oscillating air discharge louvers, washable carbon air filter and dehumidifier to ensure proper ventilation in every part of the room. Its 8000 BTU cooling power can effectively cool a room size of 200 to 250 square feet. There is an automatic water exhaust system that automatically discharges the water through the water hose provided.

Looks and Design
This compact air conditioner comes in silver and gray colors that blend well with your room interiors. It is 13 ¼ inches deep, 19 ¼ inches wide and 24 ¾ inches in height, hence can be kept anywhere you wish to keep it. The appliance weighs 56 pounds. Also, there are easy to grip handles and easy to move casters, that helps you to move the unit from one room to another.

Carbon Air Filter
To keep your room free from smoke and bad room odors, there is a carbon air filter placed inside the appliance. This air filter is washable. Also, there is one replaceable air filter provided with this Edgestar air conditioner. You can install this replaceable air filter, when you remove the first one for washing.

Dehumidifier
The pre-installed dehumidifier helps to keep your room dry and moisture free. It is recommended to activate the dehumidifier whenever or before you activate the AC mode.

There is an auto drain exhaust system, which eliminates the need to empty water from the unit. Also, there is a direct drain option that exhausts most of the condensate present inside the unit, while in use.

EdgeStar PAC8000S air conditioner is an eco friendly appliance meeting the RoHS standards of restricting the flow of amount of toxins like mercury and lead. Also, this unit is CFC free, which means it does not give out any harmful gases while in use.

Temperature Control
There is an adjustable digital thermostat placed on the left hand top corner, just above the air discharge louvers and below the Edgestar. This digital thermostat allows you adjust the temperature and mode settings either by pressing the controls placed on the panel, or through the remote control provided with the appliance. You can adjust the settings using the + and – buttons placed on the panel. The fan speed can be adjusted in 3 different modes, using the fan mode settings option provided on the control panel. There is a clock shaped button that allows you to adjust the time. You can also adjust the time using the 24 hour programmable timer feature enabled inside the appliance.

Performance
Though the cooling technology is compressor based, the unit does not make any noise and offers you a sound sleep at night. Also, the air discharge louvers and 3 mode adjustable fan feature keep the 200 to 250 square feet room well ventilated and clean. The dehumidifier absorbs up to 71 pints of moisture per day, thus keep the room dry and moisture free whenever in AC mode. Moreover, the air conditioner is UL approved, hence saves energy and electricity efficiently. 

Warranty
Buyer gets a 90 days warranty on labor and 12 months warranty on parts along with the air conditioner at the time of purchase.

Verdict
This EdgeStar PAC8000S 8000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner is a bit costly at its price of $239.00, but it efficiently cools a small room size of around 250 square feet. Hence, if price does not matter much for you, then you can definitely think of buying this air conditioner.
