Nokia N97 Mini Review

Nokia N97 Mini is an upgraded version of Nokia N97. The phone is compact in size and there are changes made in the design. There are lots of features in this phone with a touch screen. The phone will easily fit into the pockets and has a great feel in hand. The battery of the phone has a stainless steel cover. It is better than a plastic cover. This gives a good look to the phone. This Nokia model has 3.2 inch, multi-colored touch screen. Te screen is bright and text and images can be easily read and viewed on it. The screen has proximity sensor, accelerometer and light sensor to change the home screens and adjust the brightness of the screen.

The touch screen responds well to the user’s touch. The keyboard of Nokia N97 Mini is user friendly as the spacing between the keys is good and the keys are wide enough. The user can type in fast pace using this keyboard. The slider of the phone is solid but stiff. Initially it takes strong force to open the phone. The slider loosens up after some use. Te user interface of this phone is not that appealing as applications takes time to load and the user cannot quickly move from one application to other.

Underneath the display, there are buttons for power, talk, end and menu functions. The left side of the phone has a port for USB and a lock button while there is a volume controller and camera switch on the right side of the phone. The phone has 8GB of internal memory. The phone has Ovi maps for navigation with text-to-speech directions. The Ovi maps are easily downloaded on the handset. The phone has features like speaker phone, text and multimedia messaging with email functionality, GPS, Bluetooth, calculator, calendar, alarm clock, etc.

The call quality of the phone is really good. The audio quality is good and volume was loud and clear. The speaker phone quality is average.  There is some sound in the background when one switches the speaker phone. The AT& T’s 3G network has good speed. The web pages are loaded quickly. The user can download music and videos. The videos can be played without any disruptions. The 5 mega pixel camera has good picture quality. The camera has digital zoom, LED flash with Carl Zeiss lens and other editing options. The camera clicked sharp images with natural colors and good videos were recorded. The media player of the phone is good and can play both music and video files.

The overall performance of the phone is better than the predecessor. The phone has some issues of lag in speed and while moving from one application to other. Lithium battery is provided with this phone. The battery life of the phone is 7 hours on talk time mode and 12 days on stand by mode. The Nokia N97 is priced at $ 497. The phone is compact, has better design but lacks in performance. If the user is paying this amount, he or she can get better deal in form of other well-equipped smart phones.
