Olympus Mju 7040 Review

Olympus Mju 7040 is a compact digital camera which has 14 mega pixels resolution. The camera has 7x optical zoom and 3 inch LCD screen.  The camera is made of plastic and is available in blue, pink and silver colors.The camera has features like face detection, panorama stitching, etc. and wide range range of settings. This model has special feature called as iAuto which automatically selects five most commonly used settings in the camera.

The camera is slim and light in weight. This camera easily fits into the palm and jacket’s pocket. This model has an attractive look. On the top side of the camera , one can find an on/off button. On the rear side of the camera , the user can see zoom buttons along with the LCD screen. The camera sports a circular navigation pad as well as movie record button. this button enables the user to start shooting a live video without entering into video mode. there are various buttons given in the control panel for recording play back and for various menus. The design  of the camera is simple and user friendly but lacks speed.

This model has four magic filters in form of Drawing, Pop art, Fish eye and Pinhole. These filters work in the same way as the precedessors in this range from Olympus. The beauty mode is a function that helps in beautifying the image by removing the blemishes and improving the skin tone of the person whose  image has been clicked.  This model shoots movies.

The camera has 2 GB internal memory as well as SD card slots. This Olympus model has lithium ion batteries. The image quality of the camera is not that superior. the chromatic aberrations are handled well in this model. The camera is not suitable for night photography. The images are good in the center but they become soft at the edges. The color quality and sharpness of the snaps is not satisfying.

The camera is priced at $249. The camera is good looking, compact and well designed. The camera suffers a bit in the areas of image quality and performance. The camera is slow and image quality is not that good.  The camera is not consistent in its performance and results of all the features is not quite satisfying. A beginner who is interested in a small digital camera can go for it but he or she has to manage with average performance.
