Review of Coby CAM5000 Camcorder

Coby CAM5000 is a peppy designed high-definition camcorder. Most attractive thing about Coby CAM5000 is its low- cost. To get web camera in just $100, cost wise, it’s really amazing. Many costlier cameras also do not have this feature of web camera. Slogan by Coby for camera is shoot it, share it, SNAPP it! With SNAPP CAM 5000, everything is absolutely easy, including recording. It starts recording at just one touch. Its video quality is not clear in-door but with enough light you can shot a best picture. 5 mega pixel camera pre-installed in it is also pretty good. Furthermore, you can connect the camcorder to your HDTV with an in-built HDMI connector.

Look and feel:

Look and feel of cam5000 is just like your mobile phone. It is very light and weighs around 1.1 pounds only. Dimension is 9.5mm x 7mm x 1.8mm which is quite portable. 2-inch TFT LCD full color display gives you bright vivid screen. Coby CAM5000 comes in glossy black body with silver button on it.

Performance:

SNAPP^TM CAM5000 camcorder is a smart gadget with 5 mega pixel camera in-built. Camera has a CMOS sensor which shoots 2584×1936 pixel video resolution. The LED comes in the picture automatically when you try to capture something of low light. Photo quality is quite good in light but, where it is less light you will get spotted image. Image is captured with high-resolution i.e. 720px at 30 frames per second. Multiple filming modes are given to capture image. Digital zoom is of 4x and low light LED is provided to fill the extra light. You can see your video on a brilliant 2” TFT LCD full color display. In-built flash memory is of 128MB and you can add some more memory as SD slots are provided. You can add up to 16GB of memory inside your camcorder. Web camera is a special feature of this camcorder. You just need to add your camera to your PC and you can use it as web camera. This feature is found only in few of the camcorders available in the market.. High speed USB 2.0 port is allotted for fast memory transfers.

Connectivity:

Audio output is provided in CAM5000. HDMI cables are provided to connect it to HDTV for PC. Audio mode is mono and speaker is in-built. Operating system support SNAPP cam5000 is window 7, window xp, vista and windows 2000.ARcoft media impression for editing and uploading video to you tube. Formats to be used are MPEG4 for video and JPEG for still images.

Battery life:

Battery is not so good but it is removable and rechargeable one so you can carry one more battery with yourself. Lithium polymer battery is used here also. This battery is normally used in all other camcorders.

Cost:

Cost of Coby CAM5000 is very low its $100 only. Anyone can afford SNAPP cam5000. You will get SNAPP CAM5000 unit, AV cable, USB cable, installation CD, Lithium-ion battery, hand strap, HDMI cable and carrying pouch along with it.

Overview:

Video quality is fairly nice. Still images are spot if it is taken in-door but in light it is pretty good. Uploading to you tube and web camera compensate the entire drawback.. I will rate it 3/5.
