Introduction:
Lenovo’s latest innovation, the next evolution of the highly acclaimed thinkpad X200, the Lenovo thinkpad X201 was launched recently. The new X201 looks extremely pretty due to its sleek design and intelligent assembling of exterior components. The 12” ultra-portable thinkpad has got superb combination of both look as well performance.
Look and Feel:
Business purpose thinkpads are mostly boxy. Also, the coloring and other decorative objects are skipped as much as possible. The new Lenovo thinkpad X201 is not an exception to this general thumb rule. Manufacturers have tried hard to offer X201 enough elegance.
The designing of the lid surfaces, the hinges and the keypad is aimed for blessing the thinkpad with strength, stiffness and stability it needs when operated in business meetings. A peculiar thing about the keyboard is that its size is unaltered while transforming the X200 model into X201. Thus, even with the portable body, we find the same keyboard size. This strategy works well and does not create any mismatch between the undersized laptop body and the oversized keyboard.
The keyboard and the space surrounding it is given a smooth and leathery appearance, which adds a typical business touch to the overall looks of X201. The matt surface enhances attractiveness as well as reduces flex of the screen. Thus, we find the X201 is a highly nice looking thinkpad that delivers a pleasing experience to the user.
Processor and Performance:
The new Lenovo X201 thinkpad is offered in two different variants, X201 and X201s. Both of these variants include different processors. The X201 variant includes Intel core i5 540M processor, while the X201s variant includes Intel core i7 640M processor. The system is provided with 4GB, DDR3 RAM. Default operating system with Lenovo X201 is the Windows 7 Professional (64 bit).
Apart from the specifications of X201 stated above, the general CPU performance of the Lenovo X-series has always been a benchmark in the market. Be it gaming or writing into some word document, Lenovo X201 proves to have an equally fluent processor.
Storage:
Lenovo uses standard 320GB Hitachi HDD as static storage in both X201 and X201s variants with rpm of 7200 and 5400 respectively. Another variant in this category is the Lenovo X201 tablet, which uses 320GB Fujitsu HDD at 5400 rpm. Clearly, a user would hardly face any issues regarding data storage in any of the three variants of X-series thinkpad.
Battery Life and Weight:
Battery life is the crucial factor in fixing laptop purchase deals. This is true especially for thinkpads. Fortunately, the Lenovo X201 performs well in terms battery life. It offers a whopping 6 hour 40 Min battery life, which is undoubtedly rated ‘superb’ in the market.
The next important aspect is the weight of the notebook. The three variants of Lenovo X201 vary substantially, in terms of their weights. Following are their weights:
Thus, the tablet variant carries the highest weight, still all the weight figures surely fall in the acceptable region.
Pricing:
The price range for thinkpads has always been higher. Again, we quote here the prices for the three variants separately for the user to compare them.
