Review of Panasonic SDR-SW21 Camcorder

Panasonic manufacturer have kept those crowds in mind that goes for trekking, snorkeling and other sports frequently. SDR-SW21 is capable of sustaining any rough handling. Now and then Panasonic is improving in its features of camcorders compared to those it had in its previous models. SDR-SW21 is an upgraded version. As we can say it is a sports camcorder, Panasonic has made perfect feature, which will prove it as the best sports camcorder. Its height is 2.5 inches; depth is 4.6 inches and width is 1.4 inches that makes it quite handy for daily usage. You can slip the camcorder over anywhere effortlessly. For zoom in and zoom out it has a small wheel on its rear side and one more button is placed for quick recording purpose. SDR-SW21 has tiny flush button which is designed to protect buttons from water which is placed between LCD and camcorder body hence becomes cumbersome due to extra setting made on the camcorder. LCD screen is 2.7 inches and the Panasonic SDR-SW21 weighs 0.5lbs.

Technical detail:

SDR-SW21 camera is just 1 mega pixel. You will get dotted image in the photo. It has 10x optical zoom and 25x digital zoom. This feature is a highlighted feature in the Panasonic SDR-SW21 digital camcorder. It is seen that zooming is convenient in this camcorder because of both optical and digital zooming features enabled inside it. You need not have to buy costly tripod for image stabilization, as image stabilization is electronically controlled in SDR-SW21. Videos are recorded in “web mode” which is necessarily needed in You Tube. You will get Video Cam suite software to upload clips on You Tube, making it web friendly videos.

Microphone is in stereo mode. It will record all audio in Dolby. You can extend its memory to 2GB with the help of SD/SDHC card. If you are planning to go to a beach or in deserted area, its dust proof feature will protect the camera. SDR-SW21 is rugged enough to bear shock to some extend, if at all it falls from your hand. Therefore, Panasonic SDR-SW21 is durable and rugged camcorder.

Overview:

Panasonic SDR-SW21 is waterproof, dust proof and even shock proof. A combination of all the three features in one is rarely seen in other camcorders. However, the camcorder takes poor quality still photo and the placement of the small button on its body also creates a problem for the user. It is unfortunately expensive and will cost you around $400. Therefore I will rate it 2.5/5.
