Review of Samsung ST1000

Are you interested in a digital camera that has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity? If yes then you should take a look at the recently launched ST1000 from Samsung. The camera comes up with Bluetooth 2.0, Wifi-connectivity and geo tagging. This camera is compact and slim. The camera is made up of plastic and has a glossy finishing in the front side and matt finishing on the back side. This camera is available in black/black, black/gold, silver/red, red/black and blue/grey colors.  This model has a resolution of 12 mega pixels and 3.5 inch LCD screen. This Samsung camera has 5x zoom lens.

The camera does not have a good grip in the front due to the glossy finishing. At times, holding the camera becomes difficult. The camera has a feature like Smart Gesture, which responds to the user’s finger commands. The One Touch Auto is of great help to the user. It focuses on a particular area of a frame by just touching that part. A lot of settings like landscape, portrait, etc. can be chosen automatically with the assistance of Smart Auto shooting mode.

The Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth technology offered by the camera helps the user to share snaps on picasa, you tube, face book and send them to other cameras and mobiles respectively. The GPS technology helps the user to view photos on websites like Google earth and Google maps and keep track of places where photos were clicked. These features in the camera are gaining popularity and the number of such cameras is steadily increasing.  The camera has a little power button, shutter button and zoom levers to begin with.

The back side of this camera has a LCD screen, which is really good. The responses of the camera are quick and user friendly. The menu button gives the user to go through all the menu options. The bottom of the camera has memory card slots, battery compartment and tripod mount. The battery lasts for approximately 200 shots. The image quality of the camera is above average. Noise is a problem with this camera. Chromatic aberrations and purple fringing is slightly noticed. The images produced are soft and colors are not bright.

This camera has good options for connectivity and ability to transfer images through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The GPS system des not work well and do not reach to the expectations of the users. The camera has poor image quality. The camera is good looking, well designed but does not perform well.  The camera is priced at $399. the user does not get value for his or her money. You have to go through the camera before planning to buy this one.
