Samsung S3650 Corby Review

The Samsung S3650 (known popularly as GENIO Touch and Corby) is a touch screen mobile phone developed by Samsung. It was released in October 2009. It turned out to be an extremely popular phone, making Samsung a popular phone brand once again. There is also a QWERTY version of the phone, called the Samsung B3210.

The phone is a touch screen model which makes it very popular among new-age mobile consumers. The phone weighs 90 g and has dimensions of 103 x 56.5 x 12 mm. The display is a TFT capacitive touch screen which has 256 K colours. It has an internal memory of 50 MB and expandable microSD memory of up to 8 GB.

The Corby’s popularity is its unique design which has made it sell 3 million units in the first three months of its release. The Corby has replaceable panels which allow the user to customize the phone. The Corby comes with a one black and one orange panel. The orange panel gives the phone a youthful, zestful look while the black one gives it a sleek, stylish design. However, other jackets like Jamaican Yellow, Cupid Pink, Minimal White and Festival Orange. The Samsung S3650 Corby also has both GPRS and EDGE connectivity – one can get a GPRS speed of up to 32-48 kbps and while using EDGE, a speed of 236.8 kbps.

The phone also provides a 2 mega pixel camera ( a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels) fixed-focus camera with automatic smile detection which can also record video at 15 frames per second. Bluetooth v2.1 is also included with A2DP functionality along with a USB port.  The phone also has other multimedia features. It has FM Radio with ADS as well as a Find Music recognition service which allows the consumer to identify and find music. Another very popular feature of the phone is its ability to integrate with social networks. Samsung has labelled it as the ‘Facebook’ phone as the user can easily integrate with Facebook and other social networks like Twitter etc. Thus, one is able to update their status or upload photos very easily using just the phone.

The phone also has both a video and a music player. The music player can play file formats like mp3, wma and eAAC+  while the video player can play formats like H.263, H.264, mp4 and wmv player. It uses a normal Standard Li-Ion 960 mAh battery. The Corby promises a standby of up to 730 hours while a talk time of around 9 hours. Other than that, Java MIDP 2.0  is also included.

All included, the Samsung Corby S3650 is a phone very well-suited to the young, trendy generation. It is already very popular and it’s integration with social networks has also contributed a lot to it.
