The Sennheiser brand name is enough to make one think that any pair of headphones out of this company’s factory must be brilliant, and the HD595 stands testimony to the same.
The design of the HD595 is fairly simple and yet, sleek. They are highly attractive. The chrome and golden–silvery finish to the surface adds to the effect. It is one of the classic designs that one hardly ever forgets, with the Sennheiser logo bang in the middle of the head padding. The cable exits the drivers from the left side (and thus, is single sided). It is a 3-meter log cable that ends into a ¼-inch gold plated stereo jack. Alongside this, as usual, a 1/8 inch mini jock adapter is also provided to make life that much more simple. To add to this, a nice little headphone rack is complimentary with these pair of headphones. This is for the times when you want you headphones to hang safely when not in use.
To top it all, many of the pieces of the headphone are end user replaceable. All that you have to do is enquire about the cable or the ear pads and the headband and get it replaced for yourself, and as you see fit. It is a fairly simple design that sets an impression on you before you even start hearing the music.
To top it all, the headphone is very light and does not feel anywhere around what it looks like – bulky. The ear cups also, provide a very nice and comforting padding. Sometimes, if you are the type of listener who can easily get lost in music, you might not realize headphone is sticking out on the top of your head.
About the sound quality itself, it is brilliant as long as our collection is brilliant – that is if you have sub standard tracks (below 160 kbps) then all you would want is to throw your headphones and your player into trash and never hear music again. For anything above the same, this pair provides every bit of detailing. However, there are a few glitches somewhere or the other. The bass here is not very full and is in fact, underplayed. It was not detailed and was not prefect precision. However, they scored where many do not. The treble and the midranges were stunning. They did not surpass any boundaries. They were just about perfect.
Now as the design of this pair is also open aired, one could easily pick out the distance between the instruments when a particular track had been recorded. This also added to the vivacity of the track. The track sounded more real and more live and real-time, which in turn gave its own astounding affect.
Just one thing to look out for is the environment you are in. As these headphones are open aired, the sound leaks out and in as easily. This can be either a plus or a minus depending on where and when you want to use the pair.
